is a sleepy oasis in the hills above the coastal plain. Tourism has had little impact here, there is just one taverna, across the village square from the church. The locals fill their water bottles at the natural spring that emerges from the hillside in the centre of the village and then retire to the shade of the square to mull over the events of the day.

Just two minutes walk from the centre of the village is Villa Mystiko. Completed in 2007 and with all the modern amenities, the sympathetic design is unobtrusive and blends in well with its rustic surroundings.

Beside the seating area is a large dining table with seating for six. The kitchen is an L shaped extension from the main living area. Contemporary in design with all the necessary mod-cons and acres of workspace, this space should make knocking up a light lunch a pleasure.

Climbing the marble stairs from the hallway takes you to the upstairs landing, where the three bedrooms are located. All three rooms are decorated in an understated and contemporary fashion, with plenty of storage, en-suite bathrooms and French windows out to a balcony. The master bedroom has a double bed and shower room and shares a sea facing balcony with a large twin room which has an ensuite bath. The third bedroom at the back of the villa has a private balcony with mountain views and an ensuite shower room.

As dusk falls and swallows swoop over the pool, it is the ideal time to make use of the impressive gas BBQ on the raised dining deck. During the day, the large pool comes into its' own, with a Jacuzzi built into the shallow end and comfortable loungers and side tables dotted around the terrace.

The living room has a flat screen television with a sky box mounted above the fireplace, as well as a DVD player and stereo system. Upstairs you can find heated towel rails and hair dryers in the stylish modern bathrooms. There are even candle lanterns for the outside dining area. For those who would like to sample a taste of the real Greece whilst still having all their creature comforts, Villa Mystiko is an ideal location.
