High in the hills above the village of Tsoukalades on the north west coast
of Lefkas, is a very special hidden gem. The Gecko was designed by the owner,
Sue, as a luxurious retreat from the world.

The Gecko is the ideal holiday retreat for one or two couples, with space and privacy for everyone. The property is on two levels, with the first bedroom in the main house and the second in the Deck Suite, down by the pool.
On entering the main house through the French windows, light pours in, illuminating
the open space right up to the timbered roof. Squishy sofas and an open fireplace
make the area instantly welcoming.
A huge collection of books, CDs, board
games and a computer station with a permanent internet connection are concealed
behind sliding doors at the back of the room.
At the back of the villa is a kitchen, with cream and dark wood units hiding every appliance you could possibly want. Next door, the bathroom is contemporary and stylish with twin basins, a walk in shower and free standing bath. Above the living area, on a mezzanine level, is the main bedroom. This stretches the whole width of the house. Lying in bed you can see all the way down the valley to the sea, which may make getting up in the morning pretty difficult!
The second couple have their own dedicated suite, detached from the main building: The Deck Suite. This has a separate entrance, as well as it's own terrace, shower room and kitchen. Once again, the bedroom takes full advantage of the view and sea breezes, with the added luxury of a huge walk-in wardrobe. “...citrus trees and an abundance of scented herbs.” The ensuite shower room has a large walk in shower and classic white suite. There is a small kitchen adjacent, which has everything needed to make an evening drink or, for those who fancy breakfast in bed, a coffee machine and a citrus press to start the day with style.
The gardens at the Gecko have been beautifully landscaped to fit in with
their hillside location, with citrus trees and an abundance of scented herbs.
The first dining area is next to the main house, perfect for breakfast or
an alfresco lunch.
To one side of the garden in the lee of one of the stone
walls is a large Mediterranean style barbeque and another dining area. The
infinity pool, on the main deck is long enough for a good swim,
but it may seem a pity to disturb the gently lapping water. Below the main
pool, is a second smaller pool, with built in seating and ample shade -
just the place to relax with a book.
Whether you choose to spoil yourself and take The Gecko just for two, or share with some friends is up to you, but we can promise that once you step through the gate, the hustle and bustle of everyday life will seem a world away.
